WHAT WE DO

We serve a hot meal, provide a cold drink, supply a hygiene kit, occasionally medical supplies and take prayer and needs request every Saturday.  By God's grace alone, Hope Beyond Bridges celebrated our 416th (8 years) consecutive  weekly feeding, ministering and outreach to the homeless in December, 2016.  The concept of a hot meal is one of the focal points of our ministry from its' inception. This was part of the original God given vision for ministering to the homeless.  Picture a dinner table at home with the family gathered around talking, laughing and sharing; developing deep, long lasting relationships.  This vision drove us to our core principal of RELATIONSHIP. Our desire is to become friends with the homeless we serve, deep lasting relationships where we earn their trust over time (sometimes years).  With trust and love, we are able to share the gospel of Jesus.  Each week before we heard out to serve, we pray specifically for each of us to embrace the heart of Christ, to see each one as God himself see them and loves them just as He sees and loves us in the midst of our mess.

Another core principal of our ministry was to CONNECT.  We want to partner with other ministries, agencies and/or organization to connect the homeless with available resources when they decide to transition off the streets.  We are not an ID ministry, medical or dental ministry, eye glasses ministry,  jobs ministry, transportation ministry, detox or residential treatment facility; however, we have over the course of eight years developed liaisons with such ministries.

Over the years as friendships and trust developed with men and women on the streets, God's redemptive power began to work in their hearts and minds.  God supernaturally changed their "want to's".  They were now restless on the streets rather than comfortable.  They started to experience HOPE, the hope of Christ and made decisions to  leave the streets and enter Christ centered residential treatment facilities. They were baptized, experienced spiritual healing, physical healing, emotional healing, forgiveness, restoration of relationships, peace and deliverance from drug and alcohol addictions that only Christ Jesus can provide.  Some come back and serve with us when they come to town.

Currently, we serve each Saturday along several freeways in Houston around 610 loop and extend out into the suburbs.  If you think about any time a road goes under a freeway, it is a potential stop for Hope Beyond Bridges.  We provide a hot, nutritious meal, drink and hygiene kit to everyone we encounter.  They are given an opportunity to share with us prayer requests and needs request like clothes, shoes, blankets or bug spray.  If any of those items are available from donations in our storage locker, we will deliver to the them hopefully the next Saturday.

We have a desire to expand the outreach of our ministry and are seeking partnerships with other churches throughout the area. Please contact us if you have a desire to minister to the needs of the homeless locally in your area.
