Woodlands UMC Summary

Friends, fellow servants to the homeless,

You were part of the email list of those who had planned to be part of our day of service with 45 and Hope this past Saturday, the 9th.  If you weren’t there, please accept my apology for including you here, but perhaps your role is simply to pray over these names.  For those of you who cooked only, thank you so much for your service- everyone enjoyed the lasagna, bread, etc.

For those who went to the streets, I am attaching the lists from the North and South route such that perhaps in these next weeks you can recall the faces behind these names and lift them up to our Lord, the Father and Savior of us all.(Sorry they are upside down its just how they scanned in, you can flip it at your end!)  My heart hurts even now over all of these and certain faces I recall in particular.  If you found this to be a service that you would like to repeat, keep in mind that our church serves every 2nd and 5th Saturday and you can sign up on our church website twumc.org.  In addition, 45hope.org website is a resource to learn more about the ministry and if you desire to serve on another saturday there are sometimes openings with other churches listed there.

If you determine that you are interested enough to think about becoming a leader with our church, I know we could use some help on the leadership team as well.

God bless you all for your commitment this past Saturday.

In Christ’s love for the least,

Jennifer Clark

PS   As Dave mentioned, if you have a particular observance or comment about the day, please email us (copy dave- the 45&Hope address) with any comments.

Woodlands UMC Summary

We had a great day as usual.  Attached is a PDF of Prayers and Needs.  Here are some highlights as I remember:

1)    I talked to Lupe more than I ever had.  He gave someone his Bible(I think he said Dave) and he would like a new Bible.  He was in the military.  has a grandson in military and his daughter lives in Montana; lives down near ship channel

2)    Had not seen Steve for 2 months .  he had been in hospital they uped epilepsy medication- he thinks his disability will be coming thru soon– he talked alot with us. Good group at 2920

3)    Carla at West road needs XXXL clothes. Patrick was working which is good but she really wants a job too.

4)    Young couple at last stop for South route really touched Mark– they were in early 20s and their thot was it would be better on the streets than staying with one of the dads(I think)- see the north route

5)    The camp has been bulldozed.  Nobody saw Gene or the others that are normally there.

45 & Hope is seeking volunteers to help be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the homeless. We will be cooking and preparing out of our home. As many of you know, over the past two months we have been remodeling our kitchen to increase efficiency for 45 & Hope cooking. We are excited to once again “show off” our new kitchen (although minor finishing touches are still on going) as we prepare a hot meal.

We are not partnered with a particular church this Saturday June 30th, so if you have been looking for an opportunity to get involved, that day has arrived for you. We are so grateful for all the prayers and support we receive weekly from our ministry partners like you.

We need 6 volunteers for cooking and 14 volunteers for serving. If you sign up to cook, please arrive at our home by 9:00AM. If you sign up to serve, we ask that you can arrive by 10:30AM and are able to complete your day around 3PM. Sometimes it is earlier, but on occassion it has been later. We also need of a leader to lead one of the routes as well as one and possible two volunteers with trucks willing to drive the routes. Our address is 3611 Aldergrove Drive, Spring, TX 77388.

If you have availability this Saturday please visit our website: www.45Hope.org, under the “Get Involved” tab there is a “Vounteer Calendar”. Select this and then select the June 16th “COOK” OR “SERVE” to bring you to the sign up page. If you plan to cook and serve, please sign up for both. We need 5 volunteers for cooks and 14  volunteers to go out with us to serve.  We limit the number of volunteers  for two reasons: 1. We want every volunteer to be involved in serving and 2. We do not want to overwelm the homeless with 10 people jumping out of the vehicle to feed 1 person.

Greeting Ministry Partners:

Hope this email finds each of your doing well and recovering from the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, College Football, NFL Football extravaganza.

Saturday following Thanksgiving was a wet and chilly one; however, it did not put a damper on the spirits of our faithful volunteers. We were blessed with awesome leadership from David N and Jon L, many of regular volunteers from Woodlands Point and several first time volunteers.

We are grateful for all the blanket, coats and hoodie donations thus far this season. With that being said, we are still in need of all of the above. If God has put it on your heart to sow into this ministry via an offering, we pray for your obedience. You can donate directly via paypal on our website at www.45Hope.org.
